Today Fade In hits shelves and it’s also the start of a new series—one that’s been on my mind for the better part of a decade. I have an inbox bursting with messages from fans and I’ve been busy recording interviews for a couple of weeks. THANK YOU to everyone who’s supported my writing, waited patiently for my latest career transition to play out, or reviewed an early copy of Fade In. These are the kinds of grassroots efforts that are so critical to the success of a book.
The creation of a novel is not for the faint of heart. It’s lying awake at night when ideas won’t come. It’s admitting when a chapter you’ve worked hard on is just not cutting it. Then there’s the anxiety about how readers, editors, and reviewers will respond. You’d think it would get less stressful as time goes on but that’s not the case.
Throughout my entire career, I’ve taken risks. I’ve written unconventional characters, explored controversial themes, and given readers a peek at alternative viewpoints and the gray areas between good and evil. Fade In is a bit of a departure from the themes I covered in the Mitch Rapp books, but one that I think people will be attracted to in a world that seems increasingly insane.
Thank you again for coming along for the ride. Your trust and enthusiasm have given me the confidence to craft a deeply quirky protagonist and to step outside the traditional parameters of political thrillers. In the end, Fade In turned out to be exactly the novel I intended to write. I hope you have as much fun with it as I did.
Signed Books
I’m making four stops at bookstores over the next week and will also be talking with some special guests along the way. If you’d like a signed book, give one of these tour stores a ring before they’re all gone.
